Work has started on B. Braun Medical's new aseptic unit at its Thorncliffe Park which will house a cytotoxic robot that is only the second model in use in the UK, according to the Yorkshire Post.

The robot is able to handle highly-toxic medications for people undergoing chemotherapy treatment and will allow the firm to prepare and deliver time-sensitive drugs to locations within a two-hour radius - which includes 180 hospitals.
Gordon Bridge, the master cutler who acts as an ambassador for industry in Sheffield, told the newspaper: "B. Braun Medical is a world-class company which is continually pursuing industry excellence and this type of development consolidates the strength of Sheffield and South Yorkshire as a place to do business.

John Mothersole, Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council, also said the company's success and innovation could be a role model for other firms in the area.
B. Braun, founded over 160 years ago, employs more than 27,000 people across the globe and claims to be one of the world's top healthcare firms, with a turnover of more than £1.3 billion.
