Think London attracts Chinese telecoms firms

Along with co-hosts China Netcom, the Foreign Direct Investment agency for London highlighted the capital's telecommunications network and the benefits it can have for firms in the sector which move to the city.

Michael Charlton, Chief Executive of Think London, revealed that a recent Cushman & Wakefield survey of senior executives from 500 European companies found London is considered to have the best telecommunications provision.

"Telecommunications is a vital industry for modern business. London has become a global centre for new, emerging and converging technologies," Mr Charlton added.

Jidong Zhao, Senior Vice president of China Netcom, also said his firm has established their European gateway in the UK capital and highlighted the support Think London gave to this process.

In related news, the agency recently held a major business event in Beijing to promote the opportunities for Chinese firms in the UK ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Think London recently added the '8888 page' to its website, hoping to attract Chinese companies through the use of one of the numbers the country considers to be lucky.
