CNBC emerging India Awards: winners announced

The winners of the CNBC Emerging India Awards were announced at a grand ceremony in July.

The awards, which this year focussed on the achievements of SMEs, have been instrumental in creating a revolution among Indian SMEs, helping them gain better access to capital, technology, global markets and quality manpower and bringing the community together.

Last year, 100,000 top Indian SMEs sent in their entries. This year, with a theme ‘Think Global, Go Global’, more than 300,000 small and medium sizes businesses contended.

The event celebrates UK-India collaboration, and this year’s London base (the first time the event will be held outside the UK) was an ideal opportunity to show how the UK is a ‘Springboard for Global Growth’ for Indian companies looking for a global footprint.

It also highlighted the opportunities for UK firms to explore the Indian market.

The event was attended by Kamalnath, the minister of commerce and industry, from the government of India. The Rt Hon John Hutton MP-Secretary of State for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, Laxmi Narayan Mittal, CEO & Chairman, Arcelor and Mr.K.V.Kamath of ICICI Bank also attended.

UK Trade & Investment, the Government organisation that helps businesses locate in the UK and grow internationally, was the knowledge partner for the event.
