Under the programme, the selected businesses, which include BreakThru Films, Revolver Entertainment and Mosaic Films, will work with experts who specialise in digital media to allow them to present their products in innovative ways.
Digital Innovation in Film, which is run by both organisations alongside various screen agencies, intends to further the business growth of UK film companies by opening them up to new distribution opportunities.
John Woodward, Chief Executive Officer of the UK Film Council, commented: "The digital world is already having a huge impact on the film industry.”

Jon Kingsbury, Nesta's Creative Economy Programme Director, also said independent film firms are the "bedrock" of the UK's creative sector and suggested the initiative could help the position of Britain as a "key player" in the international film sector.

In addition to the Digital Innovation in Film programme, Nesta is also working on the Raise the Game campaign, which aims to forward growth and collaboration in the UK computer games industry.
