McKesson, which is listed 18th on the US Fortune 500 and has revenues of over £50 billion, is part of consortium creating an integrated human resources and payroll system for the NHS.

To support the system, the firm will channel investment into a shared service centre in Bangor, creating hundreds of jobs over the next three years, making it McKesson's second largest UK premises.
Day-to-day management of the entire NHS Electronic Staff Record, which pays more than 1.2 million people, will be carried out by the service centre, with another base to be established in Glasgow.

Ieuan Wyn Jones, Welsh assembly Minister for the Economy and Transport, revealed that the investment was supported by the Government and was "excellent news for Wales".
In related news, McKesson, which has been working with the NHS for over 18 years, has been chosen by the South Central Ambulance Services to run its payroll system in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Berkshire.
