A new fellowship scheme will allow 14 talented individuals to work in research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, depression and pregnancy-related problems.
Under the programme, £1 million a year will be split between 14 research projects to fund salaries for the candidates, with the positions starting from September this year.
Describing the fellowship as a "fantastic opportunity", Professor Peter Clayton, Associate Director for Training and Education at the BRC, said successful candidates will have the chance to undertake cutting-edge research within specialist fields.
He commented: "This is a very exciting project which will attract some of the brightest and best young researchers to Manchester.
