During the event, UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) will draw attention to the UK’s thriving biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, which undertakes 35 per cent of all European biopharmaceutical trials and has developed 15 of the world's 75 best selling drugs.
The sector invested £21 billion in research and development in 2007 and is the world's second largest drugs pipeline, topped only by the US.

UKTI will also host seminars on cutting-edge areas of the sector, including tackling diseases affecting the world's aging population and stem-cell research, with UK experts debating topics such as ethics and international competitiveness.

Biotech is the leading industry event. This year it is hosted in California and runs from 17 to 20 June.
