The firm, which was the first Japanese company to invest in the region, has another reason to celebrate – it has also won the prestigious Queen’s Award for International Trade.
Established in 1988 as the European subsidiary of the Japanese Canyon Corporation, the company has grown to become a leading manufacturer in its field, exporting to Europe, North America and Africa.
Since locating, Canyon Corporation has had continued support from Invest Northern Ireland and the Newtownabbey community, helping firmly establish the company within the European market.

Canyon employs 125 people and in the last three years alone has invested around £11 million to ensure the plant’s continued success.
Over the past 20 years Canyon has continually diversified and developed its range. The company has also developed an export marketing strategy which has brought continued success in the UK, European and globally, with products sold to over 30 countries.

Not only do we celebrate our 20th year of manufacturing in the province which is a tremendous achievement in itself, but we have also won the prestigious Queen’s Award for International Trade.
