The firm, which has facilities in Cambridge, UK, will provide carbon-fibre composite materials for the primary structure of the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft, in a deal which is expected to be worth between $4-5 billion (£2-2.5 billion).

The firm also confirmed that some of the materials and their components for the new contract will be produced at its UK plant in Duxford near Cambridge.

The UK’s aerospace sector
Currently, the Duxford facility, which employs around 400 people, manufactures the greatest range of products within the organisation and carries out pioneering work into new aviation structures and materials.
The Airbus A350 XWB will enter service in 2013 and is designed to deliver environmentally-friendly performance while increasing the standards of passenger care.
