The Pervasive Media Studio is the first of its kind in the UK and will provide scientists with the resources to explore GPS, wireless and smart phone technologies.
It is hoped the centre will support the £9.3 billion creative economy in the south west of England by providing a cutting-edge work space for researchers.
The move has been supported by the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) and is a collaboration between HP Labs and Watershed Media Centre, the University of West England and the University of Bristol.
