A total of £1.46 million in funding has already been secured for the India-UK Advance Technology Centre (IU-ATC).
BT is joined in the consortium by 10 UK universities including Cambridge, St Andrews and University College London, as well as Indian IT industry organisations Infosys and Midas Communications.

Some 22 industry and academic partners are involved in the project, which will be the first ever India-UK virtual research school.
Professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala of the India Institute of Technology, said: "With the creation of the IU-ATC, Indian PhD students can now collaborate in a global, virtual platform, to share innovative research concepts among an elite grouping of UK and Indian academic institutions.”
