Teleperformance, part of the world’s second largest contact centre provider, currently employs over 2,000 staff across its UK network.

Since setting up in Northern Ireland 10 years ago the firm has experienced exponential growth.

To deal with new business arising from several major new contracts Teleperformance is opening a new office in Northern Ireland.

Support from workforce

“Northern Ireland continues to provide Teleperformance with a quality workforce and an infrastructure that has helped to support the rapid growth of our company since our first centre was established in Bangor, Co. Down in 1997,” commented Jeff Smith, chairman and chief executive officer.

Teleperformance already has a 700 seat contact centre in Bangor, County Down and this latest investment will almost double their capacity.

Optimising customer service

“…The Newry centre will ensure we continue to be able to deliver high levels of customer service to our growing client base, whilst in addition providing the necessary flexibility to take advantage of future opportunities in the marketplace,” Smith continued.

Teleperformance’s announcement came just days after energy firm Powergen said it was expanding its UK call centre facilities.

Powergen spokesman Jamee Majeed said the firm had “dramatically” improved its customer services since making the decision to relocate its Indian call centres to the UK last year.

Developing global presence

The firm has received £2.25m of assistance from regional development agency Invest Northern Ireland.

“Teleperformance has, for the past 10 years, made a valuable contribution to Northern Ireland,” commented Leslie Morrison, Invest Northern Ireland’s chief executive.

“The development of a second centre in Newry will clearly help to reinforce the company’s position locally, while building Teleperformance’s global presence.”
