HRH The Duke of York presented the awards at a ceremony at the Taj Land’s End Hotel.
The function was attended by senior business people representing world-class business links between the UK and India.
The winners
HCL Technologies was presented with the Investor of the Year award, for Indian companies that have successfully set up in the UK.
The Business Partnership of the Year award for a successful Indian-UK business partnership in the UK or India went to Tech Mahindra.
In the Innovation category, for UK companies who have successfully launched a new product or service in the Indian market, LogicaCMG took the prize.
Cranes Software were awarded the New Market Entrant of the Year prize for an Indian or UK SME company demonstrating start-up success in the UK or India.
Business person of the year for an Indian or UK businessperson who has contributed significantly to India-UK business relations went to Mr YC Deveshwar, chairman of ITC Ltd.
Finally Entrepreneur of the Year, for an Indian entrepreneur successful in the UK, went to Mr Ajay Piramal, chairman of Piramal Group.
Special Recognition Award
In addition, UK Trade & Investment presented a Special Recognition award to the co-chairmen of the Indo- British Partnership, Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE DL, founder & CEO, Cobra Beer, and Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman & managing director, Bharti Enterprises.
This was for their considerable contribution to the promotion of business relationships between India and the UK.
A legacy to build on
“These award winners have done sterling work in creating and underpinning the developing business relationship between our two nations,” said UK Trade & Investment’s chief executive Andrew Cahn.
