London is becoming a more attractive place to do business than Wall Street, says London’s Lord Mayor, David Brewer.
Yet, financial services in the UK as a whole are responsible for its success, not just London itself.
Tighter US regulation and immigration laws are helping London to overtake New York, Brewer said in The Scotsman.
This is reflected in the battle for the London Stock Exchange (LSE), which has attracted interest from five parties, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
The newspaper also refers to a study published last week by IBM’s Institute for Business Value (IBV), which shows international financial services talent is flocking to London.
