The US$14 million centre will open in April 2006, offering incubator facilities to fledgling knowledge-led projects.
The centre aims to grow young, research-based companies with intellectual property in the science, engineering, biotechnology and IT sectors.
Cambridge expertise
Park Chief Executive Dr Sarah Tasker previously managed Cambridge Science Park - the biggest and most successful in Europe.
“We grew some of the biggest technology clusters in Europe in Cambridge and have transferpred our expertise here,” said Tasker.
“Liverpool has massive potential and that is the reason we came. We think it is a diamond in the rough,” she added.
Six companies move in
The centre already has six tenants, with more due to confirm.
Extensions will house firms as they expand.
