The new building is scheduled to open in 2008 and will include facilities to develop teaching, business support, and research on art and design.
“This development will be more than just another academic building. It will be a catalyst for new creative adventures, for innovative thinking 365 days a year” Liverpool John Moores University (LIMU)'s Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Brown.
Business interaction
The new building will include a multi-disciplinary space where business and students can work together, share ideas and embark on creative projects.
Local businesses welcomed the news, seeing it as another step in the city’s expanding role in the creative industries.
LJMU School of Art and Design was founded in 1825 and is the oldest art school outside London.
It boasts John Lennon, Stuart Sutcliffe, Jason Ansell and Adrian Henri among its alumni.
